Led by singer/songwriter Graham Parsons, The Go Rounds are a furious live act and progressive recording unit, fueled by the history of its diverse lineup and a collaborative spirit injected into everything from songwriting to arranging. Equally inspired by their record collections as the beauty of the Great Lakes State, the band explores soul music, baroque folk, art rock, country and classic rock n' roll.

Lasso is the solo project of producer/multi-instrumentalist Andy Catlin. An exploration into all things weird and American, Lasso albums play like a psychedelic cowboy dream--equal parts ragtime, country, psych rock and tex-mex. The band's sound is the product of an intense collaboration between any and all who happen upon a session. The project was awarded an artist residency by ISLAND in 2011 which culminated in the sophomore album LASSO'D. In January 2013, Lasso released REAL LASSO, an EP of songs recorded at the Double Phelix studio.
No small ship's a sailin' when these girls and boys set out to sea. Call them the Kalamazoo Wrecking Crew, this rotating cast of players performs and records songs from all across the Double Phelix catalog. The group of seasoned recording artists first formalized into a live ensemble in order to perform the Go Rounds summer 2012 album, FEATHERNAME, at a select run of Michigan shows during that summer season. With the addition of the Kalamazoo Brass Collective and occasional visits from others Michigan friends, the Double Phelix Orchestra blossomed into a fully-formed live music vision unheard of or unseen in the likes of this Great Lakes region (and on most occasions was equipped with its very own traveling sound engineer--thanks Keith!). Expect a wild psychedelic revue that creatively links the entire eclectic collective catalog into one sonic vision!

Early last Autumn, the first Birdfingers album was produced, almost by chance, as one might come upon a nameless creek traveling deep in the forest. Recorded live as an ensemble one auspicious late summer evening, the album introduced Bennett Young as a songwriter and set the course for further collaborations with Kalamazoo's Double Phelix Collective. At the beginning of Autumn 2012, that hidden stream transformed into a deep, clear river. Birdfingers II takes us on a journey through seven new compositions, beginning, appropriately, with "River", and ending peacefully upon the shores with "Ebb Tide", Young's interpretation of the popular standard. Running themes in both the creation of the album, and the music itself, include exploration of new territory, the rhythm of rest and motion, and submission to the transformative effects of time. Most recently Birdfingers has released the EP, OF MERE BEING/THE MESSENGER.
An incredible songwriter, producer and guitarist, Gitis Baggs creates albums that stick with you. Between his solo releases and his King Necro project, Gitis Baggs has created a body of work unparallelled in its eclecticism and expansiveness. As a songwriter, Baggs has produced two solo albums noted for incredible chord sequences, wonderfully unique lyricism and progressive baroque production. As King Necro, Baggs reinvents instrumental hip hop as a psychedelic playground for soul-calypso, new age mysticism and country rock.
Fiona Dickinson is a British singer/songwriter currently residing in Kalamazoo, MI. Dickinson's music resonates deeply with her cultural heritage: a childhood spent in the windswept deserts of Saudi Arabia & Qatar, as well as the cold environs of Scotland & England. An intense emotional exploration, Dickinson's songs are rich with chilling melodies, delicate finger picking and intense, honest lyricism. Her live show is intimate and deep, begging the undivided attention of the listener. While the instrumentation of reverberated guitars, violins and cellos are invariably complex and provide unexpected hooks, Dickinson's most affecting instrument is her voice.
Marq E. Thompson was born in a shark tank on July 4, 1983. He received his Master's in International Development Administration under Paul Clements in 2010. He currently thrives as the Primary Janitor of Double Phelix studios in cool Kalamazoo, Michigan. AKA Sharq Attack, he plays spirited guitar with a number of bands including Elk Welcome, the Go Rounds, Lasso and Birdfingers. He hides all serious content of his life force in the musics he participates inside of. Sic.
The latest project to emerge from within the Double Phelix collective is the psych lounge ensemble, Cobalt Mexican Wolves. The band is fronted by Double Phelix vocalist and songwriter, Fiona Dickinson. Fueled by "The Tower" Monday Night Session, the groovy full-sized band allows for well-timed moments of punk-inspired intensity to swell from the more well-known harrowing melodicism of Dickinson. The band has produced a handful of recent singles and continues to build their catalog of spicy electro-punk grooves.

These guys are out of control. Here is a group of kind men that communicate in a way that is mostly unhuman. Spawning from the freakish realm of hyper-aware Kalamazoo artists and low-ceiling basement after party jam circles, we have now in our world the band, Elk Welcome. See a live show and come up with your own 2-word descriptor:"funk punk", "glam Rollins", "lightning crypt", and maybe it'll absorb and become the latest neologism. As a trio the band released an EP in 2010 and a self-titled full-length album in 2012. Recently the band has expanded to include Double Phelix percussionist, Adam Danis.
